My work is based on the understanding that it is our subconscious limiting beliefs and unresolved patterns that keep us unwell, stuck, limited, or unhappy. Through a combination of Counselling and Energy Psychology Techniques I will help to remove any negative beliefs you may have about yourself or the world, which stand in the way of you manifesting your true potential, transforming them into positive, empowering beliefs. This will help you to have a more positive attitude towards life and thereby open yourself to experiencing more happiness, emotional freedom and calmness in your life.
I have a private practice near Torquay Seafront, in which I provide a bright, quiet, comfortable and safe space to talk. I use various approaches tailored to suit your individual concerns. These may include family/relationship problems, worry, abuse, anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, loss/bereavement and phobias. I have a special interest in trauma, having worked with the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, HM Prison Service and Devon and Cornwall Police for many years.
Following a seventeen year career as a State Registered Podiatrist within the NHS, in 2006 I completed a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and Therapy at Dartington. I then extended my field of practice by training in EFT (Tapping) with Accredited Master Trainer of Trainers, Rowena Beaumont in Glastonbury.
I then trained in Matrix Reimprinting with EFT Founding Master, Karl Dawson. To maintain my accredited status with the BACP and EFT International, I undertake continued professional development and I adhere to a Code of Ethics. EMDR and PSYCH-K® are areas of interest, in which I have also been trained.
At the heart of Person-Centred Counselling are the three 'core conditions' which are:
The counsellor is non-judgemental, clients are valued and warmly respected.
The counsellor works in a genuine, transparent and open way.
The counsellor attempts to understand the clients’ feelings as if they were her own.
Person-Centred Therapy harnesses the client’s natural self-healing process; given a conducive relationship with the therapist, clients can decide what they want to do with their lives. To this end, Person-Centred Therapy is a personal growth model.
I wish to make your time with me to be pleasurable and transformative, and for your life to open to new possibilities. If you are looking to be respected, understood, not judged and honoured for who you are, you are in the right place.
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) also known as ‘Tapping,’ is a relatively new discovery and a fast-evolving therapy within the field of Energy Psychology.
Based on Acupuncture, EFT/Tapping involves the use of fingertips rather than needles to tap on the end points of meridians that are situated just beneath the surface of the skin.
The therapy is non-invasive and works on the ethos of making change as simple and as pain free as possible.

Matrix Reimprinting is a recent innovation that builds on EFT by freeing energy that has frozen through unresolved trauma, be it in childhood or more recently.
It gently and easily enables a client to let go of these stressful events and move on to create a positive future.
Transforming negative beliefs can also be fun and creative as it gently and easily enables a client to let go these stressful events and move on to create a positive future.

and EFT Combined?
In counselling, talking is used to help clients understand the cause of their problems and develop different ways of thinking about their issues in order to move forward with a new perspective. In many cases this can be very beneficial. However often there is significant emotional charge connected to past events and experiences, and no amount of talking can release that from the body’s energy system. This is experienced in negative patterns of behaviour, retriggering and ‘stuckness’.
The beauty of EFT is that it can gently, yet powerfully, release and dissolve emotional and physical discomfort, self-limiting beliefs and traumatic memories from the body in most cases. Thereby enabling real change and healing, usually within fewer therapy sessions. I feel passionate about teaching EFT as a self-help tool, which can be used by a client between sessions, and subsequently become a part of their personal self-care ‘tool kit’ for life.
“Thank you so much for your support over the duration of our 8-weekly sessions. You really helped me to put things into perspective and I feel so much stronger than I ever thought I could”
“Just a note to say thank you for making me feel so comfortable during the sessions. Your help has been invaluable and has set me well on the way to getting things into perspective.
The sessions have been more like talking to an old friend (not that you are old :) )
“Just a little thank you for helping me look inside myself and identifying what's important in life.
Tap tap tap!!”
"I’d toyed with the idea of counselling for sometime. I was at a point in my life where although I felt I had no reason to complain, I was unhappy. I was missing something and I found myself in a cycle of making the same poor choices again and again. However I was also largely skeptical. I’d suffered no great big trauma, from the outset my life appeared good so why would someone like me need to see a counsellor?
Fast forward many months and after a lot of research I came across Jayne’s profile online. I liked what I read so I decided to bite the bullet and book a session. I’ll never forget the anxiety I felt before hand, wondering what I was going to say, or even why I was going. At the very last minute I nearly cancelled but I’d got this far so was definitely seeing it through.
Looking back it was probably the best decision I have made. If you’re looking for a moment where you have some huge epiphany, you may not get that. But what you do get can be life changing. And I can say that because my life has changed. I’ve learnt that my feelings were valid. I’ve learnt that although there was no huge trauma, there were absolutely reasons behind my behaviour and over time they’d turned into coping mechanisms that quite often hindered me instead of supported me.
And as for Jayne? I don’t know if Jayne truly understands just how important she has been to me over the last 18 months. For every session I have sat down opposite her (and believe me there have been times I didn’t want to!) I have always felt in that moment I am all that matters. I had her undivided attention and she was there to support me. She listened, she challenged and she helped me overcome a lot of difficulties. There was never a judgement on her part, just compassion and empathy.
Of course she was professional but more than that she was personable. She cared. We often hear the term “genuine desire” but there really is no other phrase to use. It’s evident Jayne has a genuine desire to help and for that I will be forever grateful.
This is just my story, everyone’s is different. The experiences we have are not the same and the support we require will always differ. However I can not speak highly enough of Jayne and will be forever grateful for what she has done for me.
